Five Calhoun County students signed scholarship contracts with the Take Stock in Children Chipola Program last Thursday.
Senator Bill Montford and Chipola president Dr. Jason Hurst of Chipola spoke to the students during the event.
Money for these scholarships was raised in Calhoun County and efforts were organized by the TSIC Calhoun Committee. Last year this committee held a 5k Stockyard Stampede and a Miss Stockyard Pageant to fund scholarships through the TSIC program. All money raised is matched dollar for dollar by the State. Tax deductible donations can be made to the Chipola College Foundation and earmarked for Calhoun County or you can give online at www.takestockinchildren.org.
