This past week the Altha Wildcat baseball team went 1-1 against Franklin County and Blountstown.

On Thursday, Feb. 19 Altha traveled to Franklin County to face the Seahawks. We left with an 11-5 win, our first win of the regular season. Dylan Smith pitched 6 innings, giving up 3 hits and striking out 6 batters. At bat, Seth Alday went 4-5 with three RBI’s, and Wyatt Ratliff went 1-2 with two RBI’s. Sawyer O’Bryan also added two more RBI’s.

On Friday evening, Feb. 20, Altha hosted Blountstown in a rivalry match up. The Wildcats fell to the Tigers 11-0.

We did not play to the best of our ability, walking away with only two hits and giving up several runs by walking batters and allowing big hits. Our defense fought hard but a few big plays cost us the ballgame.

This week, the Wildcats face Marianna at home on Monday, then finish the week on the road against Cottondale Thursday, Feb. 26 and Wewa Friday, Feb. 27.
