Three local Girl Scout troops paid a visit to the Altha Town Council to make a presentation at the beginning of last week’s meeting.
The girls, who are from Altha Troop 39, Blountstown Troop 30 and Marianna Troop 525, have a long list of projects they will tackle soon at the Altha Community Center. They will begin the work in the next few weeks and continue through the summer.
The girls each took a turn telling council members what improvements they would be making.
•The Cadettes will be redoing the bathrooms and organizing the storage closet to earn their Silver Award.
•The Juniors will be working on their Bronze Award by doing some outdoor clean up and landscaping. They will also paint the exterior and put up a sign identifying the building.
•The inside of the bathrooms will be redone by Troop 30 and the outside will be taken care of by Troop 39.
•Troop 525 will be cleaning the main room and kitchen.
Donations of materials would be greatly appreciated. Community members willing to help the girls with some of the more challenging tasks are invited to come work with them.
For more information about the project, or if you would like to donate materials or just lend a hand on a workday, contact troop leaders Tracey Ludyjan-Ybarra at (850) 447-5405 or Brittny Wooten at (850) 832-6777.
Those of you who would like to help but don’t think you have the energy might want to make a note that Girl Scout Cookie Sales are underway. The first cookie season ends on Sunday, March 15. The girls will hold a Spring Cookie Sale again in April.
