A man riding a four-wheeler along South Street in Blountstown was arrested after he failed to stop when Calhoun County Sheriff’s Deputy Beau McCorvey attempted to pull him over last week.
Marcus Martin, 24, was out riding around 8 p.m. on May 12 when the deputy noticed the ATV did not have operable lights.
When the deputy turned around, pulled up behind Martin and turned on his patrol lights, the ATV sped away.
Martin did not stop when he reached the intersection of South Street and Chipola Road, but did look back at the patrol car following behind. Martin continued on even after the deputy activated his siren.
The ATV then raced through the Piggly Wiggly parking lot and pulled up behind the Chinese restaurant, where Martin ran to the back door and started knocking.
Deputy Zach Whitfield pulled up and made contact with Martin, who was arrested and taken to the Calhoun County Jail after being charged with fleeing and eluding.
