The Liberty County Bulldogs dominated Franklin County in the first district game of the year for both teams on Friday. Liberty County won the game played in Eastpoint by a score of 48-14.

Franklin County recovered an onside kick to start the game, but the Bulldog defense took the ball away. A penalty moved the ball back to the Liberty eight yard line, but on the next play from scrimmage Jordan Chaney raced 92 yards for a touchdown.

Liberty’s defense punished the Seahawks on their next possession not allowing positive yardage from the home team. After stopping the Seahawks, Liberty scored again, this time on a 21 yard run by Chaney that gave LCHS a 14-0 lead. Chaney had over 200 yards on five carries and scored three touchdowns.

Jarrod Beckwith gave Liberty their final touchdown in the first quarter on a five yard run. Liberty had a 21-0 lead at the end of the first quarter.

J.J. House and Jarkeavis Bess joined Chaney in scoring touchdowns in the second quarter. House and Bess each scored on long runs.  Liberty held a 42-0 lead at the half in the district game.  Destin Fletcher scored Liberty’s last touchdown of the game between two late scores by Franklin County.

The win gives Liberty the early lead in the district contest. The Bulldogs travel to Blountstown to take on the Tigers in a September game this week.
