BLOUNTSTOWN – Health and Safety Month has begun at the Blountstown Public Library’s Parent and Child Together Story Time.
Last week’s guests were Smokey Bear and his Forest Ranger friends from the Florida Forest Service. Ranger Stacy Varnum read The Smokey Bear Story to the children and parents and taught the children Smokey’s five rules of fire safety. Following the story, Smokey came to visit and gave goodie bags to all the children.
Special thanks to Rangers Stacy Varnum, John White, Ronnie Deason and Jacob Summers. The library staff appreciates all the dedicated members of the Florida Forest Service for teaching our children that they can play an important role in preventing wildfires at any age.
Children’s Health and Safety Month will continue throughout the month of October at the Blountstown Public Library with a new special guest each Thursday at 10 a.m. CT. Come on out and help your little one learn to play safe and be healthy.
