A Bristol man was arrested for domestic battery after he struck his daughter on the shoulder in front of a deputy who had responded to a call about a physical disturbance at a SR 20 home on Dec. 2.
According to the arrest report, family members called for help after Franklin Cone became verbally abusive and threatened to get a gun and kill his daughter and her husband.
Deputy Sean Phinney heard arguing when he arrived at the residence. When he entered the home, he found Cone standing in the kitchen and heard him yell, “I will kill you” to his son-in-law.
The deputy said he managed to calm the 81-year-old man down but Cone became aggressive again and hit his daughter.
Cone was handcuffed and taken into custody.
The deputy was told that Cone had recently stopped taking medication that had been prescribed to help him deal with behavioral issues following the death of his wife last year. Just a few days earlier, Cone told his daughter he would no longer take the medication because he didn’t like the way it made him feel.
